Life Receives Funds to Renovate 5 Haitian Mosques

View Album>>
Life for Relief and Development has received $110,000 from the UAE-based Al Rahma Charity that will fund a handful of humanitarian projects in Palestine, Haiti, and Sierra Leone.
Over half of the money will be used to renovate five mosques in Haiti that were damaged by last January’s devastating earthquake. All five mosques are in and around the capital city of Port-au-Prince.
The renovation process will include the installation of a power generator and new carpeting, the repairing and painting of walls and ceilings, upgrading the wudu facilities with a motorized water pump, and stocking bookshelves with Qur’ans and educational texts.
In Sierra Leone, part of the funds will be used to dig a water well and build a community center/mosque on the campus of an orphanage operated by Life.
The remainder of the money will be used to purchase large water storage tanks for 80 Palestinian families in both Gaza and the West Bank. In addition to receiving the tanks, these impoverished families will also receive a four-month supply of water that will be delivered by tanker trucks.
