Phase 1 of Ramadan Campaign Underway in Horn of Africa

For several weeks now, Life for Relief and Development has moved quickly to provide food relief to those who are literally starving to death in the Horn of Africa.

At the opening of the holy month of Ramadan, Life’s relief team was on the ground deep in Somalia, delivering baskets of food to needy families.  Some 550 families in all benefited from this initial phase of the Ramadan Feed the Needy Campaign.

Included in each food basket were enough provisions to provide a family of 7 with a month’s worth of meals.  Those with infant children were also given a several-week supply of baby formula.

Somalia, as well as the rest of the Horn of Africa, are suffering from the worst drought in a century.  Over 12 million people are in need of food assistance.  Each day, some 4,000 people die from starvation.  The situation is truly beyond belief.
