Life distributes winter aid to Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza

Life for Relief and Development completed the first phase of its winter warmth campaign by distributing high quality winter blankets, to poor Palestinian families in the West Bank and Gaza to help them survive the winter cold.
Many Palestinian families living in the West Bank and Gaza suffer from a lack of proper heating and good quality blankets to protect themselves from the cold during the winter months. There are many elderly, widows, orphans and children who especially suffer due to the cold.

Many of the Palestinian refugees’ homes do not have glass windows, forcing families to cover their windows with cloth, plastic or paper so they can
protect their children from the cold, rain, wind and snow.
In Gaza, blankets were distributed to 665 poor and needy families. There were 1070 blankets distributed, 370 single blankets and 700 double blankets. Most of the families that received the blankets were unemployed, had no electricity or heat to their homes. The recipient families were so happy to receive the blankets for their children and families.

The blankets provided warmth for children, the elderly, handicapped women, the disabled, orphans, poor families and the homeless.

The blankets were distributed to the following locations:

North Province (125 families received 250 blankets):
1. Beit Lahia
2. Beit Hanoun
3. Jabalia

Gaza Province (181 families received 280 blankets):
1. Shatic
2. Zaytoon
3. Sheikh Radwan

Central Province (187 families received 300 blankets):
1. Deir Balah
2. Nsairat
3. El Braige

South Province (172 families received 240 blankets):
1. Rafah
2. Khan Younnis

Palestinians who received blankets during “Phase 1” have expressed deep thanks and appreciation to all who contributed to help donate towards this project. It should be noted that most international organizations, do not provide funding for Palestinian families living in the West Bank and Gaza or in refugee camps in Jordan to receive blankets and other means of heating or to repair their homes to protect them from the cold during the winter months. This is what prompted Life to implement this project with your support. Hopefully, Life will complete the next stages of this ongoing project in the Gaza Strip.
