Life Digs its First Deep Well in Gaza

view images

In May, Life for Relief and Development dug its first deep-borehole water well at the Abu Daoud Mosque in the Al-Nusyrat village in Gaza to serve many families in the area. A heavy equipment borehole digging company was contracted to dig the water well outside of the Mosque. The water was then piped into the Mosque where a water filter and water cooler were installed for use by the public. The well also provides fresh clean drinking water to around 100 families living nearby. This well pumps approximately 10,000 cubic liters of water per hour. The water is very clean, fresh and sweet tasting.

Everyone living in the village and those attending the Mosque were all very happy to finally have fresh water to drink. In Gaza and
the West Bank water is a luxury for most families. Water is usually purchased and supplied to families by water tankers.

Life appeals to its donors to help fund digging as many deep-borehole water wells in Gaza and the West Bank as possible, to give
Palestinian families access to free, fresh, clean water.
