From the very outset of the Lebanese crisis, Life Syria immediately responded to the thousands of people that spilled into the city of Beirut as well as all across the southern border of Syria. According to the Department of Immigration and Passport, the number of displaced Lebanese inside of Syria went over 190,000.

In cooperation with AmeriCares, LIFE has distributed one container of medicine valued at $1.8 million with a second shipment worth close to $400,000 in current distribution. Over 3,000 individuals suffering from various ailments have been treated and some are still slated for treatment in the coming days. The shipments contained antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. The supplies were given to hospitals and clinics, such as Al-Ehsan Charitable Society and Al-Moasah Hospital, located in rural Damascus and surrounding Syrian governorates so they are better equipped to treat those who escaped the war.

LIFE Syria has also provided aid in the form of food packages to centers in Almazeh, Damascus, as well as villages of South Lebanon, Ba’labak, and southern suburbs of Beirut. Among these centers are the Hefz Alnea'ma Charitable Society in Damascus and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, which houses over 500 families with over 100 children among them. LIFE has distributed a total of 550 food packages of high nutritional value to feed those displaced inside of Syria.

LIFE’s local partner in Lebanon, quickly mobilized all their human and logistical resources to focus on two basic needs for all evacuees of the south. Firstly, that they would have hot meals available to them for lunch and dinner. Secondly, that homes which housed a large number of external family members would have food packages containing essential items at their disposal. These efforts primarily targeted 3 cities, Beirut, Sidon and Mount Lebanon.

Among the types of meals served twice a day were meatballs with potatoes, rice with meat, and mixed vegetables with rice. Having provided 1333 hot meals as well as delivered 375 food packages to people’s homes, it is safe to say that LIFE’s efforts in Lebanon were greatly successful.

It is through your donations, support, and prayers that LIFE acts as an extension of your goodwill to accomplish such results. There is much work yet to do in light of the destruction left behind all over the south of Lebanon. We ask for your continued support and generosity as we start to address the needs of those who are returning to demolished homes, destroyed personal property and in many cases mourning the death of their closest loved ones.
