Southfield, Michigan (6/24/2009) As part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate human suffering, the American relief organization, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) in partnership with four other U.S.-based charities, provided this week three major shipments of medical supplies, clothing, educational books and other humanitarian supplies with a value of over six million dollars to hospitals, clinics, schools, and needy civilians in Somalia.
Working with International Aid, headquartered in Michigan, the Children of Abraham, based in Indiana, Feed the Children, based in the Oklahoma, and the American Relief Agency for the Horn of Africa (ARAHA), headquartered in Minnesota, LIFE shipped out wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, aids for the physically disabled, medicines, medical supplies, educational books, and clothing valued over six million dollars, to be distributed across several major cities in Somalia.
These shipments are part of LIFE’s ongoing humanitarian campaign to provide urgently needed aid to the hospitals, clinics, schools, and civilians of war-torn Somalia. In the past, Life has also dug water wells, providing clean drinking water to small villages in Somalia.
Commenting on these relief efforts, LIFE President & CEO Dr. Mujahid Al-Fayadh stated, “The people of Somalia have suffered from shortages of medicines, food, and water for many years, and it is wonderful to partner with other American charities to help ease the suffering of the innocent in Africa and other parts of the world.”
