89 New Orphan Sponsorships in Jordan

In the first half of 2009, the Jordan office of LIFE for Relief and Development expanded its orphan sponsorship program by adding 89 children to the list of orphans that are being sponsored. This brings the total number of orphan sponsorships in Jordan as of July 1st to 289.
Sponsored orphans receive assistance on a monthly basis in the form of food, clothing, schools supplies, and other support. Donors to LIFE make these sponsorships possible through their contributions of $50 a month.
In addition to the individual support that the children receive, LIFE Jordan also arranges fun social activities for the orphans and their relatives to enjoy.
For example in the city of Zarqa, a fun festival was held for some 100 orphans. While the children were playing, LIFE counselors conducted a workshop for the childrens’ guardians in order to help them develop the skills needed to successfully raise an orphaned child.
On another occasion, a group of orphans from the north of the country were taken on a field trip to a national park near the city of Irbid where they went on a nature hike and played sports.
The Jordan office of LIFE for Relief and Development was founded in January 2004 following a cooperation agreement reached between LIFE and the Jordanian Ministry of Social Development.
