View album
In association with the UAE-based Sharjah International, Life for Relief and Development successfully implemented its 2009 Udhiyah campaign in the West African country of Sierra Leone.
Thousands of pounds of meat were distributed primarily to families and institutions that care for orphans and the disabled throughout the four-day Eid ul Adha holiday.
In the capital city of Freetown, the Handicap Action Movement, along with the Center for the Deaf and the Dumb, received fresh meat from six slaughtered cows on the first day of Eid. A number of orphans in Freetown that are sponsored by Life donors received gifts of meat as well.
Three cows were slaughtered at Life’s orphanage in the town of Mile 91 for the benefit of approximately 100 children who live there. Another three cows were slaughtered in Port Loko for the benefit of poor families in the area.
