LIFE has been dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the people in Sierra Leone since 1996, delivering humanitarian assistance to the refugees and orphans of both Sierra Leone and neighboring Guinea. LIFE’s projects aim to improve the development of both adults and children in Sierra Leone, in particular the orphaned victims of war. LIFE works to foster these individuals so that they may grow to become self-sustaining members of society.
LIFE’s history in Sierra Leone began mainly because of the increasing number of children left orphaned and without food or clean water. LIFE began by building and rehabilitating schools where education and book distributions took place. The Orphanage currently supports over 200 orphans who are provided with food, shelter, clothing, and proper educational and medical care. Also offered in Sierra Leone are essential vocational and computer literacy training. Water and sanitation has also been a recurring problem in Sierra Leone and LIFE works hard to provide them with a permanent source of clean water.
