Community Development Providing food and shelter to the needy is a difficult task, but the challenge lies in developing the community so that it may reach a level of self-sufficiency regardless of the difficulties it may face. Life works to create the type of environment that helps provide inhabitants of underdeveloped communities the ability to get back on their feet and manage their lives. Life partners with numerous local and international nonprofit organizations to create community development projects which improve the quality of life for each resident. Life’s community development programs work towards providing these people the chance they need to elevate their status in life. Another component of Life’s Community Development Program is constructing Community Center’s which are gathering places where community members can worship and pray. 4th Phase of the Winter Warmth Campaign in the Palestinian Territories is completed Life staff has completed the 4th Phase of the 'Winter Warmth' campaign by providing food and blankets to over 1,600 needy Palestinian families living in the West Bank, the 48 regions and Gaza. Each family received food baskets and 2 heavy winter blankets Life Improves the Livelihood of Families in Ethiopia and Eritrean Refugees in Southern Sudan Life provided funding to improve the livelihood of families in Ethiopia and Eritrean Refugees in Sudan. Through this small‐scale dairy animal keeping project families were given either a pair of dairy goats or a dairy cow. The animals will help sustain families and provide income‐generating opportunities for their owners. Life Sierra Leone Distributes Books to Primary and Secondary Schools In September 2012, Life for Relief and Development distributed thousands of copies of modern textbooks to primary and secondary schools nationwide in Sierra Leone. Life Distributes Blankets to the poor and needy and Syrian Refugees in Egypt Most Syrian refugee families are living in these areas and there are now about 1000 Syrian refugee families in Egypt. Life distributed 1000 blankets to more than 400 refugee families, 2 blankets were given to families composed of 4 persons or less, if the family had more members then we gave them one additional blanket for every two persons.
