Handicap Assistance
Handicapped people around the world are denied the common luxury of independent mobility. Whether they are born with a disability or receive it through war, the disabled lack access to opportunities, services, and social networks that are necessary to participate in modern society. In areas such as Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan, chances of the handicapped developing skills to function in modern society are even more desolate. Life recognizes the importance of helping those - who cannot help themselves - to become more self-reliant and independent. Life’s goals are to provide such services and programs that may condition the handicapped to move and work within society without feeling impaired. In cooperation with the Wheelchair Foundation, UNOPS, the U.S. Government, the Iraqi Handicapped Society, and the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled in Afghanistan, Life is able to provide such provisions as wheelchairs, medicine, food, and more to help the handicapped survive and grow. Life also builds and renovates local rehabilitation centers for the handicapped to gather and take part in programs that help develop their skills and talents.
