Over 3,700 orphans being cared for in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Ghana and Sierra Leone
In the war-torn countries of Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq, Life is working to help orphans recover from childhood tragedies by caring for their
needs as they struggle to live a normal life in an unstable world. In these countries, Life provides material assistance to mainly fatherless orphans who live at home with their mothers or with other relatives. These children are given supplementary food, clothing, education assistance, and basic medical care. The objective is to assist caretakers in improving the quality of life of these children.
Of the 3,700 orphans currently being assisted by Life, 80% are sponsored directly by our donors. Donors who sponsor orphans on a monthly basis receive a photo and profile of the child receiving their assistance as well as updates on the child’s educational progress. The orphans and their sponsors also send letters back and forth to one another, which strengthens the personal bond between them.
In Sierra Leone, Life operates facilities that serve as both orphanages and schools. Life is completely responsible for the total care of the orphan providing the orphan with housing, clothing, food, and education, as well as basic medical care.
Orphans in many countries receive gifts on both Eids, and many benefit from a special back to school program, which provides students with the
essentials needed for a productive school year.
