Flood waters have swallowed neighborhoods. Loved ones have been separated and are yet to be found. Families are isolated without medical attention, and danger increases by the hour. After days of relentless flooding, a cyclone struck Sri Lanka on November 27th. The storm intensified the already existing destruction overnight, pushing thousands of people from their homes and destroying entire communities.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake declared on Sunday that “It was the first time the entire country had been struck by such a natural disaster, the largest and most challenging in Sri Lanka’s history.”
