Dr. Abdulwahab Asamarai
Chairman
Dr. Asamarai has served as a board member in Life for Relief and Development since it's establishment in 1992. He holds the following degrees: D.V.M., M.Sc., Ph.D. and M.D. His degree as a medical doctor was inspired by his commitment to helping the needy. He hopes to continue to see Life extending the hand to all suffering people around the world.
Siyad Abdullahi
Board Member
Siyad Abdullahi is a healthcare entrepreneur who has led multiple health sector companies and served on numerous boards. He is a former Commissioner on the City of Minneapolis Public Health Commission and currently serves as a trustee of the Kenya Hospital Advisory Trust. Mr. Abdullahi works with elected officials in the U.S. and abroad to expand and advance access to quality healthcare.
Michal J. Salloum
Secretary & Treasurer
Mr. Salloum holds a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. Held several technical and managerial leadership positions. Currently serves as a Board Member of the Muslim Community Association of Ann Arbor (MCA). Served as President of the MCA (2004-2005), V.P. and Board Member of the Michigan Islamic Academy (MIA)(1997-1999), Secretary of MCA E.C. (1995-1996).
Dr. Mohammed Elsayed
Board Member
Dr. Mohammed El-Sayed, P.E., is a Professor of Engineering at Eastern Michigan University with over thirty years of industrial and academic experience. He is a Fellow of ASME and SAE—distinctions awarded to engineers recognized for excellence in leadership, research, and innovation. Dr. El-Sayed has also served as a visiting Imam and board member for several community organizations.
M. Yahia Abdul-Rahim
Board Member
Dr. Rahim is a pediatric hematologist/oncologist for 22+ years. He graduated from Emory University in Georgia. He also has special interest in the youth centers and youth education as well as Islamic Schools in the USA. He works with many medical and charity organizations for Syrian causes.
Dr. Hany Saqr
CEO/Board Member
Dr. Hany Saqr earned his medical degree in Egypt and a Ph.D. at Ohio State University, where he became a professor and contributed to medical research. With a strong background in founding and leading non-profit boards, he has served as CEO of LIFE for over a decade. Recently, Dr. Saqr was honored by Marquis Who’s Who and named Most Inspirational and Impactful Humanitarian Leader of 2025 by CEO Maven.
