Loss of Husband, Loss of Rights
In many parts of the world, widows face prejudice, stigmatization, and in some places, traditional dehumanizing practices after the husband’s death. They are also stripped of their properties and told to fend for themselves. The world’s weight rests on their shoulders; without help, they continue to suffer in silence.
There are an estimated 258 million widows around the world, and nearly one in ten live in extreme poverty – The Loomba Foundation
Helping Single Parent Families
The Family Assistance Program works to improve the living conditions of vulnerable single mothers and disabled heads of households. They are lifted out of destitution and despair by supporting their basic needs monthly. The need grows as global conflict, disease outbreaks, and natural disasters rise. It is ever more vital that they get the attention and support they need.
What does a monthly gift provide?
Provisions like food, clothing, hygiene kits, and shelter are given to impoverished families with a monthly gift of $150. Women experiencing widowhood should not be marginalized. Advocating and supporting their needs will transform them from invisible women to empowered women.
