In Gaza, food insecurity has reached unprecedented levels. According to the World Food Programme, nearly 80 percent of the population is now experiencing hunger, with many surviving on less than one meal a day. Months of conflict and border closures have crippled supply chains, destroyed farmlands, and displaced hundreds of thousands of families. For children, the impact is especially dire - widespread malnutrition has left many weak and undernourished, while parents struggle to find even the most basic food staples.

From April 4 to April 10, 2025, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE), launched an emergency response across Gaza to provide essential food relief to displaced and vulnerable families. The project distributed 1,240 food packs containing rice, oil, flour, sugar, and canned goods, as well as 2,500 hot meals consisting of rice and chicken. These meals were delivered to North Gaza, Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and Gaza City, reaching 2,073 families - more than 11,200 individuals, 70 percent of whom were children.

The initiative targeted those most at risk, including widows, the elderly, and families living in temporary shelters. LIFE teams worked under volatile conditions, facing road closures, supply shortages, and ongoing security risks. By sourcing long-lasting staples and coordinating in real time with community leaders, the organization ensured that distributions continued safely and efficiently. All meals were prepared in hygienic kitchens following WHO standards and delivered in sealed containers to preserve food safety.

This emergency response provided great relief to families who had gone days without food. As one mother, Hanan, shared, “I have seen my children go days eating nothing but grass, but thanks to LIFE, we received hot meals and food baskets that lasted us for over a month. I am eternally grateful.”

Through efforts like this, Life for Relief and Development continues to help Gaza’s most vulnerable communities, turning compassion into action.
