In May 2025, Life for Relief and Development completed its Orphan Sponsorship Project across Baghdad, Erbil, Dohuk, Mosul, Dyala, Anbar, and Basra, delivering vital food, clothing, and emotional support to vulnerable families. The program directly assisted hundreds of orphaned children, aiming not only to meet their basic needs but also to restore dignity and stability to their daily lives.
The initiative focused on ensuring equality between boys and girls and required all beneficiaries to continue their education. Each family received carefully selected, high-quality food baskets and Eid clothing. LIFE’s teams, led by trained supervisors, traveled long distances to reach families in remote areas, ensuring that every child received their share.
In one neighborhood in Baghdad, a mother named Umm Ibrahim, who lost her husband in 2014, described LIFE’s support as “a safe haven.” She shared, “Their communication makes us feel warm. They think of us and lift our burdens when no one else can.”
Another story came from a mother whose young daughter, Walaa, had been walking to school in torn summer clothes during the winter. When LIFE provided winter clothing, she said, “It wasn’t just clothes, it was mercy and hope, being born again.”
In a third household, little Maria was overjoyed to receive Eid clothes. After shopping for her new outfit, she wrote a heartfelt letter: “To those who didn’t know me but thought of me, thank you for bringing joy to my face and comfort to my heart.”
Through initiatives like these, Life for Relief and Development continues to uphold the rights and dignity of orphaned children in Iraq. By addressing both their immediate needs and their long-term well-being, LIFE helps these young lives move forward with hope, stability, and the promise of a better future.
