Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) Reaches 1,674 Orphaned Children in Jordan and Lebanon
Growing Up with Less Security
Losing a parent can make ordinary expenses much harder to manage, especially when food, education and healthcare are already stretching family resources. In Jordan, UNICEF reports that around 1 in 7 children lives in multidimensional poverty, meaning they may lack essentials such as adequate food, healthcare, education, housing or clean water. In Lebanon, UNICEF warned in 2025 that more than 500,000 children and their families were at risk of losing critical subsistence cash assistance.
For orphaned children and their caregivers, dependable sponsorship can provide breathing room while helping protect a child's education, health and everyday wellbeing.
1,674 Children Reached in One Season
In Jordan, from April 14 to 20, 2026, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) provided sponsorship assistance to 1,174 orphaned children living in numerous communities, including Amman, Al-Salt, Al-Karak, Irbid, Madaba, Zarqa and refugee camps. Children and their mothers also met with LIFE team members to discuss education, health and any urgent needs requiring additional attention.
In Lebanon, from March 10 to June 30, 2026, another 500 orphaned children received regular sponsorship assistance in Tripoli, Akkar and Tyre. Ramadan food baskets and Eid clothing were also provided, adding practical seasonal help during important times of the year.
Help That Changes with Everyday Life
Sponsorship gives caregivers flexibility to address the needs that matter most at a particular moment. That may mean groceries, school expenses, healthcare, clothing, utilities or other necessities that keep a family more secure.
The impact also reaches beyond material needs. Reliable assistance can reduce uncertainty at home, help children remain connected to school and give caregivers greater capacity to focus on their children's wellbeing.
One Blue Drink, One Very Happy Child
One small moment in Jordan captured what sponsorship can mean beyond major expenses.
After receiving assistance, a mother took her children
3 shopping. Her young son stopped when he spotted an icy blue drink he had wanted to try for a long time.
“Mom, this is the drink I’ve always wanted to try!”
This time, his mother could simply say yes.
For the child, it was a treat. For his mother, it was the relief of being able to give her son something small that had previously felt out of reach.
