Across Indonesia, thousands of children grow up without one or both parents, leaving them especially vulnerable to poverty, instability, and limited access to education. When a parent passes away, families often lose their primary source of income, making it difficult to meet even basic needs such as food, school supplies, and clothing. Without consistent support, many orphans face a higher risk of dropping out of school, malnutrition, and social isolation.

In communities across provinces such as Banten, West Java, Central Java, and East Java, many orphaned children rely on extended family members or guardians who may already be struggling financially. This creates additional pressure on households trying to provide food, education, and emotional support. Programs that provide consistent assistance are therefore essential to helping vulnerable children maintain stability and continue their development.

To help address these challenges, from Dec. 10th to Dec. 28th, 2025, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) supported an orphan sponsorship distribution program that reached 152 orphans across four provinces in Indonesia. The project provided direct financial assistance. In addition to cash support, children received nutritious food supplies including rice, cooking oil, sugar, milk, and other staples. Many were also able to purchase much-needed personal items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, and other daily necessities.

The impact of this assistance extends far beyond immediate financial relief. By helping meet basic needs, the program enables children to stay in school, maintain proper nutrition, and feel supported during a difficult stage of life. Just as importantly, the program provides emotional reassurance, reminding orphaned children that they are not alone and that their communities care about their well-being and future.

One of the beneficiaries, Azha Alifhi, shared how meaningful the support has been. “The cash assistance really helps us pay school fees, bills, and buy food,” Azha explained with gratitude.

LIFE thanks the generous donors who consistently make these programs possible. Their compassion ensures that vulnerable children receive the support they need to grow, learn, and thrive.
