Life for Relief and Development USA (LIFE) Brings Relief to Over 600 Families in Lebanon During Ramadan

Lebanon continues to grapple with one of the world’s most severe economic collapses in modern history. Years of instability, compounded by inflation, unemployment, and the devaluation of currency, have more than tripled over a decade and now affect roughly 44% of Lebanon’s population.

With food prices soaring and job opportunities scarce, many families face daily uncertainty over their next meal. Malnutrition and hunger have particularly affected vulnerable groups such as children, widows, and the elderly, creating an urgent need for coordinated humanitarian response during the month of Ramadan, a time centered around compassion, community, and giving. 

In response to the worsening crisis, LIFE organized a large-scale Ramadan food distribution in northern Lebanon to provide immediate relief to families struggling with hunger. The initiative included the preparation of 700 freshly cooked meals and 136 food boxes containing staple food items such as rice, lentils, flour, oil, and canned goods. 

The distribution prioritized vulnerable groups, including widows, orphans, and elderly individuals living in impoverished communities. LIFE’s on-the-ground team worked tirelessly to ensure the timely, safe, and dignified delivery of food aid to those most in need, helping families observe Ramadan without the burden of food insecurity. 

More than 520 families and 90 individuals living alone benefited directly from the Ramadan distribution. By ensuring consistent access to nutritious food, the initiative helped ease the hardship faced by hundreds of families and reinforced a sense of community solidarity and hope during one of the most challenging periods in Lebanon’s recent history. 

Beyond immediate nourishment, the program fostered emotional and social well-being among beneficiaries, who expressed deep gratitude for the compassion shown to them during Ramadan. 

Jamal, a university student volunteer, was deeply moved by the impact of her work. “I never realized how much a single plate of food could mean to someone,” she reflected. “It changed the way I see service and inspired me to keep giving.”
