Winter conditions in the West Bank often present serious challenges for families already navigating displacement and economic hardship. In late December 2025, households displaced from Tulkarem Camp and Nur Shams Camp were facing cold weather with limited access to heating and adequate shelter. For orphaned families in particular, these conditions increased risks related to both health and overall well-being.

Displacement compounds seasonal vulnerability. Overcrowded living spaces, limited resources, and restricted mobility can make it difficult for families to maintain even basic levels of comfort during the coldest months of the year.

To respond to these conditions, Life for Relief and Development implemented a winter relief initiative between December 22 and December 31, 2025, focusing on orphaned households across Tulkarem Governorate. The program was designed to improve immediate living conditions through the provision of essential winter items.

A total of 120 families received electric heaters and heavy winter blankets, helping reduce exposure to cold-related health risks while improving indoor living conditions. The intervention was coordinated with the Ministry of Social Development to ensure accurate targeting and safe distribution.

The impact was felt immediately within homes. One mother shared, “When the heater was turned on, it felt like we could finally rest.” Another caregiver explained, “The blankets gave my children comfort. They slept without waking from the cold.”

For many families, the assistance provided more than physical warmth. It reduced the financial burden associated with heating and allowed limited resources to be redirected toward food and other essentials.

Another recipient reflected, “This support reminded us that we are not alone, even in difficult moments.”

While this intervention significantly improved conditions during the winter period, displacement and economic hardship continue to shape long-term needs. Continued support will be essential in helping families maintain stability.

This work reflects the generosity of donors whose contributions continue to provide protection and reassurance to vulnerable households.
