Access to clean water has become increasingly fragile in Gaza, where infrastructure damage, electricity shortages, and limited resources have disrupted essential services. As of mid-2025, many communities were facing inconsistent water supply, forcing families to rely on unsafe alternatives for drinking and daily use.

In densely populated areas, the breakdown of water systems carries significant public health risks, particularly for children and vulnerable populations. Without reliable access, daily routines are shaped by uncertainty and increased exposure to waterborne illness.

To address these challenges, Life for Relief and Development supported a water well maintenance initiative in Gaza City between July and December 2025. The program focused on restoring the functionality of critical municipal water wells to ensure consistent access for surrounding communities.

Through targeted repairs, technical assessments, and system maintenance, the project improved the reliability of water access for approximately 10,000 individuals. These efforts helped stabilize supply and reduce dependence on unsafe or inconsistent sources.

Residents described a noticeable improvement following the intervention. One individual shared that having consistent water access changed how their family managed daily tasks, from cooking to hygiene, reducing both stress and risk.

Another community member reflected on the broader significance, explaining that reliable water access supports not only physical health but a sense of normalcy within the home.

While these improvements are significant, infrastructure challenges across Gaza remain ongoing. Continued investment in maintenance and rehabilitation will be essential in sustaining access over time.
