In Côte d’Ivoire, thousands of orphans grow up facing the compound challenges of poverty, limited access to education, and fragile healthcare systems. The nation’s history of political instability has displaced many families, leaving children without stable homes or access to consistent care. For these orphans, survival often depends on the compassion and support of others who step in to provide what circumstances have taken away.
Between February and April 2025, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) sponsored 48 orphans in Abidjan, ensuring that each child received essential support, including safe shelter, daily meals, education, and healthcare. The initiative, part of LIFE’s ongoing global Orphan Sponsorship Program, aims to protect children’s basic rights and create opportunities for a better future through sustainable, individualized care.
Each sponsorship provided more than material assistance; it restored stability and dignity to children who had lost their sense of security. With steady access to food, school, and medical services, these orphans can focus on learning, healing, and dreaming again. Local caregivers also received guidance and support to help foster a nurturing environment for the children under their care.
For many, this sponsorship marked a turning point. One young recipient shared: “I lost my father when I was seven and my mother two years later. My grandmother takes care of me, but life has been very hard. With this help, I can go to school and not worry about the next meal. It feels like someone finally sees us.”
Through its Orphan Sponsorship Program, LIFE continues to change lives across Côte d’Ivoire and beyond, proving that when compassion meets action, hope finds a way to grow.
