Updated: Apr 27, 2020

According to the World Bank, poverty in Afghanistan has gone up from 36 percent to 39 percent, leaving 50 percent of Afghan children and 20 percent of Afghan women of child-bearing age, underweight.

LIFE for Relief and Development provided a total of 400 underprivileged families with food, winter coats and plastic carpets, through our Winter Relief Project.

LIFE has given each family:

• 24kg of rice, 52.9lbs

• 5L of cooking oil, 1.3gal

• 7kg of sugar, 15.4lbs

• 7kg of beans, 15.4lbs

• 5kg of salt, 11lbs

• One winter coat

• One plastic carpet

LIFE also provided transportation of the goods from Jalalabad to Kama, Afghanistan for distribution. Every year, LIFE implements the Winter Relief Project in several countries, providing for hundreds of families, with plans to continue to do so in Afghanistan in 2020.
