Starting June 6th, 2025, into the weekend, millions of people around the world will gather with their families and communities to commemorate Eid al-Adha, one of the most significant moments of the year for nearly two billion Muslims globally. Known as the “Festival of Sacrifice,” Eid al-Adha is a time that calls for generosity, compassion, and reflection.

Muslims share Eid with their loved ones, creating beautiful memories. The excitement of picking out a special outfit, savoring Eid sweets, and children running through the neighborhood laughing and having fun with friends and cousins.

Most importantly, this holiday is about sharing with those who have less. Families come together to provide fresh meat to neighbors in need, support charitable causes, and reflect on the importance of humility and service. It is a reminder that true celebration is not just about abundance but about making sure others have enough.

Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) has always found this time of year to be one of renewed perspectives. It reminds us to pause, reflect, acknowledge what we have and the privilege of being able to give back.

These four days of Eid instill a sense of gratitude for the things we often take for granted: family, community, delicious food, meaningful connection and more.

Beyond gratitude, anyone who is fasting the days leading up to Eid al-Adha knows that fasting helps us to remember those who go hungry, not by choice but by circumstance. Experiencing hunger firsthand grows empathy and a renewed commitment to giving back, especially to those facing food insecurity.

Many people greet Eid this year with a heavy heart. People in Sudan, Gaza and other regions are facing extreme hardship. Families and individuals, many children, are suffering from loss of loved ones, their homes, injuries and hunger, and going without the warmth and safety that should encompass this holiday. During these difficult times, LIFE hopes every human, young and old, experiences the security, love and dignity they deserve.

As part of the LIFE community, we are incredibly grateful for the people who support us, individuals who care deeply about others, their community and the world. Their kindness gives us strength and the ability to continue our vital work. With great gratitude and empathy, LIFE extends wishes to all who celebrate: Eid Mubarak. And to all others, we thank you for your continued support, solidarity, and care.

Eid is for everyone, it is not limited to one faith but for all. LIFE serves every human being regardless of race, gender, religion, and cultural background. Join us in distributing fresh meat to those less fortunate through our Udhiyah/Qurbani Program in 34 countries. You can give until the evening on Monday, June 9th, 2025.
