Millions Reached Across 30 Countries as Global Need Accelerates

In parts of Gaza, families are rationing a single meal across an entire day. In Sudan, millions remain displaced with limited access to food. Across regions, economic instability, conflict, and food insecurity are converging, placing sustained pressure on families already operating with very little.

We are living through a period defined by overlapping challenges that no single system or institution can resolve on its own. Economic inequality, food insecurity, violence, public health risks, water scarcity, and geopolitical instability are not separate issues. They are interconnected forces shaping both human and planetary health. Addressing them requires a collective response that draws on the full strength of communities, institutions, and individuals.

For more than three decades, Life for Relief and Development has delivered over $667 million in humanitarian aid across more than 60 countries, supported by a global network of 14 international offices. The organization holds a 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, a Platinum Seal from GuideStar, is BBB accredited, and maintains consultative status with the United Nations.

LIFE’s programs span food security, water access, healthcare, education, and orphan support, reaching millions annually with both emergency relief and long-term development. This scale of delivery reflects both operational reach and long-standing local partnerships that allow aid to move quickly where it is needed most.

This Ramadan alone, over 4,241,820 meals were delivered across 30 countries, alongside 10,505 food baskets supporting 70,697 individuals, and 36,856 iftar meals.

Responding to Rapidly Shifting Global Realities

Across Sudan, Gaza, Yemen, and Syria, prolonged conflict continues to displace millions and restrict access to basic goods. In Sudan, more than 8 million people are internally displaced, with widespread food shortages. In Gaza, over 1.9 million people remain displaced, facing severe limitations in food access and infrastructure. Yemen continues to experience one of the world’s most severe humanitarian crises, with more than 18 million people food insecure. In Syria, over 13 million people continue to face food insecurity after more than a decade of conflict.

In parallel, economic and climate pressures are intensifying vulnerability across Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Bangladesh, where millions are experiencing acute food insecurity due to inflation and environmental shocks. Across West and East Africa, including Mali, Niger, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Sierra Leone, more than 50 million people are facing crisis-level hunger driven by drought and economic instability. In countries like Lebanon and Jordan, prolonged economic decline continues to strain families already living with reduced income and rising costs.

Fortifying Food Security

This Ramadan, efforts focused on immediate access to food. Each food basket was structured to support a family of five to seven people for an entire month, reducing reliance on unstable markets and inconsistent supply. In displacement settings and high-risk areas, prepared meals ensured consistent access to nutrition where cooking is not possible.

A widowed mother in Jordan held the food basket for a moment before speaking. “Ramadan worries me every year. I want my children to feel the joy of the month like other families. LIFE gave me peace. I can prepare iftar without fear.”

In Tanzania, an elderly man who had been walking long distances daily for income explained what changed. “My body is tired, but my stomach does not understand old age.” With consistent meals, he was able to rest through Ramadan.

In areas where cooking is not possible, iftar distributions provided a direct and immediate solution, ensuring individuals could break their fast with a full meal.

A university student described what a single meal meant. “There are days I choose between eating and continuing my studies. Today I can focus. Today I can think clearly.”

Children and Orphan Support in Crisis Zones

Too many children today are impacted by the crushing weight of survival in dangerous parts of the world. Many have become orphans, victims of circumstances, experiencing great loss at such a young age. The impact of this can affect them for the rest of their lives. However, there is hope.

Orphan-focused programming can save lives and create resiliency in children. LIFE is determined to help as many orphans as possible through its holistic programs. During Ramadan 2026, LIFE expanded its Global Orphan Eid gatherings, across 16 countries, where Children received clothing, meals, and small gifts within safe, community-based environments. In regions affected by conflict, the Global Orphan Eid Party provides environments that allow children to reconnect with play, joy, social interaction, and a sense of normalcy that is often interrupted by instability.

A young orphan receiving support shared: “Before, I didn’t know if we would have food every day. Now I don’t worry the same way. I can go to school and think about my future.”

During an Eid gathering, one child carefully held onto his new clothes before wearing them. “I haven’t had something new in a long time. I want to remember this day.”

A mother watching her children reflected on the change she saw in them. “They laughed the whole day. I haven’t heard that in a long time. It reminded me who they are when life is not this hard.”

The scale of need among children has become especially acute in Gaza, where loss of caregivers, displacement, and economic collapse have rapidly increased the number of vulnerable children requiring sustained support.

Life for Relief and Development urgently calls on our community to aid orphaned children in Gaza. These children are navigating daily life in conditions no child should have to endure, without anyone to advocate for or protect them.

Orphan sponsorship offers a direct and lasting way to help Gaza orphans by providing reliable access to food, education, healthcare, and ongoing care. Visit Project Designations to sponsor a child in Gaza today or call 1-800-827-3543 for more information.

Creating Positive Change That Lasts

Alongside immediate relief, longer-term investments continued through contributions designed to extend impact beyond a single moment of need.

With over 2 billion people lacking access to safe drinking water, water well projects are now underway across multiple regions, helping improve health, reduce daily burdens, and return time to families.

Education initiatives are also expanding. In Gaza, support is helping scale tent-based schooling for displaced children. In Syria, a program is training 1,000 individuals in programming while rehabilitating four schools, creating pathways toward long-term stability.

In the West Bank, one family described breaking their fast with only olive oil and bread before receiving support. “This changed everything for us.”

Another beneficiary reflected on what a new water well meant beyond the immediate moment. “It didn’t just help us for one day. It gave us something to build on.”

Sustaining the Momentum

Thank you to all the community members who came together and made this incredible impact possible.

The conditions that made this work necessary have not stabilized. In many regions, they are intensifying. Continued support determines whether this progress can continue. The difference between interruption and continuity is sustained action.

Sustained engagement allows families to move from short-term survival toward stability, supports children through consistent care, and strengthens communities facing prolonged difficulty. What we have achieved together in just one month shows us what is possible when people come together with intention and action. What comes next depends on whether or not we continue to commit to changing our world for the better.

Continue the impact today. Sponsor an orphan, feed a family, or give to a project that speaks to you. Visit https://lifeusa.org or call 1-800-827-3543.
