In a world where nearly 735 million people face hunger each day, food insecurity remains one of the most urgent humanitarian challenges of our time. From conflict zones to drought-stricken villages, families are struggling to find their next meal.

In Yemen and Gaza, entire communities rely on aid to survive. Across East Africa, failed harvests and rising prices have pushed millions into hunger. In parts of South Asia, extreme weather and displacement have made even basic nutrition a daily struggle. For too many, breaking fast during Ramadan is not a moment of joy, but one of uncertainty.

Food insecurity doesn’t just mean empty plates. It means weakened bodies, stunted growth, and families forced to choose between eating and surviving another way. The UN estimates that one in ten people around the world goes to bed hungry, with children bearing the greatest burden.

Malnutrition is responsible for nearly half of all deaths among children under five. During Ramadan, when communities come together to share meals and compassion, the absence of food is felt even more deeply.

This past year, Life for Relief and Development brought relief and dignity to families across 38 countries through its Ramadan 2025 Food Basket and Iftar Meal Program. Working with trusted partners, LIFE distributed 15,113 food baskets and served over 50,000 Iftar meals, reaching more than 147,000 beneficiaries and providing over six million meals.

The distributions took place in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Mauritania, Malaysia, Morocco, Myanmar, Nigeria, Niger, Pakistan, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Somaliland, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Turkey, Togo, Uganda, the West Bank, Gaza, Jerusalem, and the United States

Families received staples like rice, flour, cooking oil, and lentils, enough to prepare nutritious meals throughout the holy month. Hot iftar meals were served in mosques, schools, and community centers, allowing families to break their fast together in peace and dignity. In places where conflict and displacement have stripped away normalcy, these meals restored a sense of togetherness and faith in humanity.

The impact of a single food basket can ripple far beyond the meal itself. It strengthens families, restores health, and relieves parents who struggle to feed their children. A shared meal during Ramadan is a reminder that compassion transcends borders, faiths, and languages. LIFE’s work this Ramadan turned scarcity into celebration and fear into gratitude.

To all the donors and volunteers who made this possible, thank you. Your generosity brought nourishment, hope, and unity to families in need. You reminded the world that compassion remains our greatest strength.

"I lost my job last year, and Ramadan was heavy on my heart. The Iftar meal from LIFE brought my family together again." - Hassan, age 48, Egypt

"I’m still a child, but I could see how happy my mother was when the food came. She smiled again. We cooked rice and chicken, and it smelled like home." - Samir, age 11, Gaza
