In late September 2025, families across the Gaza Strip continued to face severe shortages of food and clean water as ongoing conflict and displacement strained already fragile infrastructure. Many families were living in overcrowded shelters or temporary accommodations after being forced from their homes, often without reliable access to daily essentials. In these conditions, immediate humanitarian assistance was critical to help families meet their most basic needs and reduce the risk of hunger and waterborne illness.

The scale of need was significant. An estimated 21,000 people directly benefited from emergency relief efforts delivered between September 24 and October 2, 2025. Among them were approximately 4,800 adult men, 6,300 adult women, and 9,900 children under the age of 18. The project provided 9,000 hot meals through 45 large food pots and delivered 60,000 liters of safe drinking water through four water tankers across four distribution locations in Deir Al Balah and Khan Younis. In addition to those directly served, another 21,000 individuals benefited indirectly through improved community access to food and water.

With support from donors, Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) helped fund and mobilize this emergency response to deliver life-saving assistance quickly. Food was prepared in large communal cooking pots capable of feeding hundreds of people at a time, ensuring displaced families received hot, nutritious meals during a period of severe hardship. At the same time, water tankers transported clean drinking water to areas experiencing critical shortages, helping families meet essential daily needs such as drinking, cooking, and hygiene.

For many families, these distributions brought immediate relief during a time of uncertainty. Access to food and clean water helped stabilize households living in shelters and temporary displacement sites, reducing the need for families to travel long distances in search of basic necessities. Parents were able to focus on caring for their children, while the availability of safe water helped lower the risk of disease in crowded living environments.

Although the needs across Gaza remain immense, efforts like this demonstrate how timely humanitarian assistance can provide meaningful support to communities facing crisis. By delivering essential food and water to thousands of people, LIFE’s emergency relief efforts helped families endure difficult circumstances while preserving health, dignity, and hope for the days ahead.
