In late 2025, the humanitarian situation in Gaza continued to deteriorate as months of unrest left families struggling to meet even the most basic needs. Large numbers of people were displaced from their homes, while damaged infrastructure, limited market access, and shortages of essential goods made daily survival increasingly difficult. In overcrowded shelters and temporary gathering areas, families faced growing food insecurity, limited access to safe drinking water, and inadequate hygiene conditions.

Between November 18 and December 26, 2025, an emergency relief initiative supported by Life for Relief and Development (LIFE) helped deliver critical assistance to communities across the Gaza Strip. The project reached approximately 97,000 direct beneficiaries, many of them displaced families with children, widowed mothers, and orphans. Relief distributions included 5,000 food baskets, 20,000 hot meals, and 2,000 fresh vegetable baskets to address urgent hunger.

In addition, 5,000 hygiene kits were provided to support sanitation in crowded shelters, while 1,000 baby diaper kits and 1,000 units of infant formula helped meet the needs of vulnerable infants. Access to clean water was also strengthened through 60 water tanker distributions across communities facing severe water shortages.

Through donor support, LIFE mobilized these emergency interventions to ensure essential aid reached families across North Gaza, Gaza City, the Middle Gaza Strip, Khan Younis, and Rafah. Food baskets containing staple items allowed families to prepare meals for several weeks, while hot meal distributions provided immediate nourishment for those without cooking facilities or fuel. Water tanker deliveries helped restore access to safe drinking water in areas where water systems had been damaged or were no longer functioning. Hygiene kits and infant care supplies ensured that the most vulnerable - particularly women, children, and babies - had access to basic necessities during displacement.

For families living through crisis, this assistance helped restore a measure of stability. Access to food reduced the need for families to skip meals or rely on unsafe food sources, while clean water lowered the risk of disease in densely populated shelters. Mothers caring for infants were able to access formula and diapers when local markets could no longer provide them. In many communities, these distributions eased daily stress and helped families focus on protecting the health and well-being of their children.

Although humanitarian needs in Gaza remain immense, initiatives like this demonstrate the impact timely assistance can have during an emergency. By providing food, clean water, hygiene supplies, and infant care items to tens of thousands of people, LIFE’s relief efforts helped families endure a period of extreme hardship while preserving dignity and hope for the future.
