LIFE Water Wells Brings Clean Water to Families in Bangladesh

In two rural communities of northern Bangladesh, families who once walked long distances for a single bucket of water now turn a tap and fill their containers within minutes. For years, the people of Vullarhat in Kaligonj, Lalmonirhat, and EPZ Boshunipara in Nilphamari Sadar faced a daily struggle, scarcity of safe water, long treks to distant wells, and constant illness caused by contaminated sources.
Life for Relief and Development launched a project to change that reality. Two deep water wells were constructed with dedicated Wudu areas, providing more than 115 families, about 725 people, with year-round access to clean, safe water for drinking, bathing, and daily use.
For these families, clean water has restored time, dignity, and health. Before the wells were installed, residents depended on shallow, unsafe water sources that often dried up in the dry season and flooded with contamination during the monsoons. Women and children bore the heaviest burden, spending hours each day walking long distances to fetch water. The lack of clean water led to recurring illnesses such as cholera, typhoid, and skin infections, keeping many children out of school.
Now both communities have reliable deep wells that serve families, places of worship, schools, and orphanages where hundreds gather daily.
In Nilphamari Sadar, Imam Abdur Rahman Hujur described how the project restored both health and peace of mind. “More than 60 families used to suffer every day. We couldn’t perform Wudu properly, and our children were often sick. Since the new well was built, that hardship has gone. Our hearts are at ease. May LIFE and its donors be rewarded for this gift.”
Through projects like this, Life for Relief and Development continues to expand access to clean water in vulnerable regions across Asia and Africa, ensuring that every family, no matter how remote, can have one of life’s most basic human rights.
